For any__ graded assignment, have students fill in this chart. Students are responsible for filling in the points they earned, the total points for the assignment, the total points to date (which will be a running total through the quarter), and the total points (also a running total).
At the head of the classroom have a chart for each class that YOU fill in as the quester progresses. You only need to fill in the assignment, total possible points on assignment, and total points for quarter.
With this technique, students will never need to ask you what their grade is and they can see if they need improvement as soon as they get into trouble. Students should keep the "Grade Sheet" right after their table of contents in their binders.
